Happening at the Museum
The BBC's A History of the World
The spare nosewheel from Britain’s first jet, the Gloster E28/39, is one of the starring items in our collection. It has now been selected as one of the exhibits from around the county to represent Gloucestershire’s contribution to the BBC’s A History of the World project.
BBC Radio Gloucestershire special event
A Night at the Museum
Gloucester City Museum
Brunswick Road, Gloucester GL1 1HP
Wednesday 17 February from 3pm to 8pm

Jet Age will be there, the spare wheel will be on show and we’ll be doing a presentation. There will also be a showing of the BBC West TV documentary “Frank Whittle - The Man Who Shrank The World” filmed in and around Brockworth and presented by Adam Hart-Davis.
The history of Gloucestershire and the world will be brought to life with film shows, talks and exhibits.
The event includes living history re-enactors and a live broadcast on BBC Radio Gloucestershire. You can learn more about the local artefacts included in the BBC's A History of the World project by visiting bbc.co.uk/gloucestershire and clicking on the A History of the World button low down on the left of the page.

Vernon Harwood of BBC Radio Gloucestershire visited our Brockworth workshop on 1 February and interviewed Jet Age chairman John Lewer and trustee Tim Kershaw about the E28 wheel.
The two interviews will be broadcast at 9.10 and 10.10am on Monday 8 February and will be repeated on Saturday 13 February between 12 noon and 3pm.
After the broadcast an edited version will also be available on the BBC Radio Gloucestershire website: go to the page featuring the county’s exhibits and click on Features and Stories - A History of the World: Extra on the right of the page.
