Cockpits and Cockpit Tours
We have several restored cockpits at the Museum, and offer guided tours on the Avro Vulcan Bomber and the Hawker Siddeley Trident cockpits.
Some of the volunteers guiding the tours actually flew that particular aircraft, so as well as learning a little about the aircraft, you may learn a little about the pilots too!
One of the most special things about Jet Age is observing faces when guests visit the museum to show a family member ‘their type’ of aircraft or engine they were involved with, only to be reunited with the actual aircraft they flew, or the engine they lovingly built. (They often sign up as volunteers afterwards and their experience vastly enriches our tours!)
We recommend pre-booking cockpit tours on arrival at the Museum as demand is high and booking avoids disappointment. Tours are free, but if you can make a suggested donation of £2 per visitor, it is really appreciated and helps us continue the work we do.
We have over xxx aircraft across the site, both indoors and outdoors.
All our displays are accessible by disabled guests. Additionally, our volunteers are able to provide assistance if needed.
We have a selection of aircraft engines that were originally built in the local area, at various stages of restoration.
