Schools Education Programme
Key Stage 2 (Primary Schools)
This is a four-hour module in the Museum, running from 10:00 until 14:00 catering for groups of up to 30 pupils, consisting of:
• History of Flight
A visual presentation covering man’s first flight to the present day
• How Things Fly
A presentation with props to illustrate the technology of flight aimed at a younger audience
• Navigation
An exercise using compass’, an interactive game and the facility to watch aircraft fly from the
adjacent Gloucester Airport
• Paper Plane
A workshop making paper planes learning from the technology of flight talk
• Lunch
In the picnic area or café dependant on weather (not provided by the Museum)• Guided Tour
In groups of 5/6 a guided tour of the museum exhibits
Key Stage 3 (Secondary Schools)
This is a four-hour module in the Museum, running from 10:00 until 14:00 catering for groups of pupils studying GCSE’s.
A combination of presentations and practical workshops including:
• An Introduction to Aircraft and Technology
• Aircraft, Flight and controls
• Engines, Jet and propellers
• Building a plane
