As stated in the Museum’s aims and objectives, which is principally to represent Gloucester’s rich aviation history, our exhibits largely reflect aircraft, engines, systems and equipment which have been developed and built within Gloucestershire or have strong links within the county.

We thrive on donations
A further strong link, reflected within our exhibits, is the dawn of the “Jet Age”, heralded by Frank Whittle’s development of the jet engine, that quickly replaced many of the piston engines, as a source of efficient aircraft power.
The museum also strives to reflect the systems and equipment suppliers that grew up alongside the airframe manufacturers with a growing number of exhibits. Over 50 aviation suppliers continue to operate within Gloucestershire today providing equipment such as landing gear, propeller systems, avionics, power management, actuation and hydraulics.
Examples of this equipment can be found as exhibits located on display within the museum.
Aircraft
The museum is home to a number of aircraft which were designed and manufactured by the Gloster Aircraft Company during the 1920s -1960’s
Engines
A number of engine examples on display represent the evolution of engine development from the early 1900s through to the 1960s.
Open Cockpits
The museum has six open cockpits on display with visitor access subject to volunteer guide availability.
Russell Adams
Born in Plymouth on 24 August 1912 Russell William Henry Adams became a pioneer of jet aerobatic photography.
