Young, Old Or Young at Heart

Your Skills Could Be Just What We Need!

We need volunteers at Jet Age Museum across all the skill areas that are required in any successful organisation; we need those willing to help with the administration and management of volunteers, general maintenance of our facilities and development of existing and new exhibits, those who can show visitors around the Museum, those with specific engineering skills and those with managerial and governance experience. We can also provide training to volunteers who wish to qualify for certain roles.

Unfortunately we are not in a position to offer “Work Experience” or Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme” placements. Volunteers must be over 14 years of age, a member or willing to become a member of the Gloucester Aviation Collection (GAC), and if under 18 have parental permission to volunteer and for their personal data to be processed by Jet Age Museum.  Under 18 enquirers must be accompanied by a parent or guardian when first coming to Jet Age Museum to discuss volunteering.

What We Do

jet age museum gloucester

Jet Age Museum opened its doors to the public in August 2013 and since then we have continued to welcome more and more visitors for the ‘Jet Age Experience’ on our public open days.

Schools & Education

At present we are unable to run schools and education sessions as our new team builds up our education activities.   We plan to begin offering Key Stage 2 school visits very shortly.

Group Visits

We also offer visits outside our public opening days to private groups, organisations and clubs.

Restoration

We are making great strides with the restoration, preservation and conservation of our exhibits.

Events

Last, but not least, are the regular events that take place at the Museum either to celebrate memorable past occasions or to stimulate aviation and engineering interest in future generations.

Administration and Planning

Of course, we are also working hard behind the scenes with the administration and planning required to sustain museum operations and develop the museum to achieve our aims and objective as detailed in our governing document; in short, ‘preserve the past and inspire the future!’.

Governance and Management

The Governance and Management team are also working on plans to extend the current accommodation, enabling us to offer more display space and improve facilities for education and training.
